Activities

What makes a visit to Yeary Farms unforgettable is the unique opportunity to engage with nature on a very private level in a place that has been altered very little for generations.

  • Hiking
There are many roads on the farm to explore through varied terrain, elevations and micro environments. You will have the trail to yourself and you are welcome to go off trail if you are comfortable navigating your way home. Get your 10,000 steps in an exclusive natural environment. If you ever tire of the established roads we can point you to some hidden destinations that will keep you coming back.
  • Painting                                                                                                                                                      The farm offers endless locations and scenes to paint or draw. We’re proud to have been a co-sponsor to the 2015 and 2016 Steelville Plein Air competition. The painters easily found their muse and you will too.
  • Photography
We’ve taken many pictures of the farm over the years, they are always fresh and different in a familiar way. Whether your favorite subject is big or small, moving or still, you will find it here.
  • Wildflowers                                                                                                                             We are fortunate to host many natural wildflowers and plants, if it grows in the region, you can likely find it here
  • Trees
The trees here hold a very strong presence on the farm year round. We have dozens of varieties of hardwood trees and a few softwood trees, some are as a big as they come in these parts.
  • Birds
The avian community here is prolific, come see the diversity. If you appreciate birds, you will be thrilled by your experience.
  • Night Sky
Our distance from urban communities creates the opportunity to see the stars as you likely never have. You don’t need a telescope to see the dominate stripe of the Milky Way, pick out your favorite constellation, or feel the rush of a meteor streaking across the sky. And when the moon takes the forefront, you can celebrate the moonrise and take a midnight hike with its light.
  • River                                                                                                                                         Our river frontage provides access to a variety of fun activities: swimming, floating, fishing, relaxing. See the river page page for more details.
